FAQ

What is a coil system?

A coil system is an outdoor unit sold together with the indoor evaporator coil rated to match it. Buying the pair as a set means the published efficiency figure applies to what you install, not to a combination nobody tested.

Do I need the whole system or just the coil?

Buy the system when the condenser is near the end of its life or runs a different refrigerant generation. An evaporator coil replacement on its own makes sense when the outdoor unit is young and shares the same refrigerant.

How much does an ac unit coil system cost?

The coil for ac unit price inside a matched system is set by tonnage, efficiency rating and pairing type, with current figures on the listings above. Installation is quoted separately by your contractor, since line set condition and drainage vary by property.

What size coil system do I need?

Size from a load calculation rather than floor area. The range runs 1.5 to 5 tons, and the coil cabinet width has to suit the space as well as the tonnage. Getting tonnage right but width wrong is the common error.

What refrigerant do these systems use?

R-32 on the Goodman systems and R-454B on the ACiQ systems. Both are current generation and neither can be mixed with R-410A equipment, which is the main reason to buy the pairing rather than replace one half at a time.

Can I install a coil system myself?

No. These are sealed refrigerant systems requiring EPA certification to charge and commission, and self-installation voids manufacturer warranty cover. Order the matched set, then have a licensed contractor handle the line set, charge and startup.
