View full detailsBuying the outdoor unit and the indoor coil as one system removes the question that causes most of the trouble on a replacement job, which is whether the two halves are actually rated to work together. A condenser reaches its published efficiency only against the coil it was tested with, so a mismatched pair quietly underperforms for years without ever throwing a fault. Ordering them as a set also settles the refrigerant question, since the current generation runs on R-32 and R-454B and cannot be mixed with older indoor equipment. Our R-454B and R-410A comparison sets out where those boundaries fall.
What we carry here is the pairing rather than the part: air conditioner and coil sets, heat pump and coil sets, and gas furnace and coil sets, listed with tonnage, cabinet width and orientation on every system.
Condenser and evaporator coil matched at the factory rating, so published efficiency figures hold.
Tonnage from 1.5 to 5 tons across air conditioner, heat pump and gas furnace pairings.
Cabinet width and orientation stated per system, which prevents the wrong size arriving on site.
Warranty cover against defects in materials and workmanship applies across the system range.
Evaporator Coils: Coils on their own, for a straight evaporator coil replacement where the condenser stays put.
Air Conditioner Condensers: Outdoor units sold separately, when the indoor coil is already the right generation.
ACiQ: The full ACiQ range, spanning coil systems, condensers, air handlers and furnaces.
Multi-Position Coil Systems: Systems whose coil cabinet installs in any orientation, useful when the position is unsettled.
The best coil system for a straight swap is a 3 ton ac unit with coil, matched at the factory rating. The Goodman 3 Ton 14.3 SEER2 AC and Coil System installs horizontally.
The best central air coil system for a hot climate runs two stages, holding low output all day. The Goodman 3 Ton 17.2 SEER2 Two-Stage AC and Coil System covers longer run times.
The best system for a home without gas pairs an inverter heat pump with its matched coil. The Goodman 5 Ton 16.2 SEER2 Inverter Heat Pump and Coil System handles full capacity.
The best home ac coil system when the furnace is also due pairs both halves in one order. The ACiQ 2.5 Ton 92% 60K BTU Furnace and Coil System installs multi-position.
Here is how the four systems line up by application, so you can match pairing type and capacity before you shortlist one.

A coil system is an outdoor unit sold together with the indoor evaporator coil rated to match it. Buying the pair as a set means the published efficiency figure applies to what you install, not to a combination nobody tested.
Buy the system when the condenser is near the end of its life or runs a different refrigerant generation. An evaporator coil replacement on its own makes sense when the outdoor unit is young and shares the same refrigerant.
The coil for ac unit price inside a matched system is set by tonnage, efficiency rating and pairing type, with current figures on the listings above. Installation is quoted separately by your contractor, since line set condition and drainage vary by property.
Size from a load calculation rather than floor area. The range runs 1.5 to 5 tons, and the coil cabinet width has to suit the space as well as the tonnage. Getting tonnage right but width wrong is the common error.
R-32 on the Goodman systems and R-454B on the ACiQ systems. Both are current generation and neither can be mixed with R-410A equipment, which is the main reason to buy the pairing rather than replace one half at a time.
No. These are sealed refrigerant systems requiring EPA certification to charge and commission, and self-installation voids manufacturer warranty cover. Order the matched set, then have a licensed contractor handle the line set, charge and startup.
