ACiQ Extreme Series 3 Ton 17.4 SEER2 High Efficiency Central Heat Pump Inverter R454B ACIQ-36-HPD
The ACIQ-36-HPD is a 3-ton Extreme Series inverter heat pump condenser engineered to deliver reliable, self-adjusting comfort in even the coldest climates. Using inverter technology to convert AC power to DC, the compressor speeds up and slows down to match real-time demand, so BTU output automatically follows outdoor conditions instead of cycling on and off at a single fixed capacity.
Advanced onboard sensors continuously monitor indoor and outdoor air temperature, duct pressure, and refrigerant temperature. During initial startup the unit enters a learning mode that analyzes this data to optimize future operation for maximum efficiency, and its self-adjusting inverter design allows it to be sized for winter heating demand without sacrificing summer cooling comfort or adding excess humidity.
Key Features
- Variable BTU output based on demand: 12,000-36,000 BTU for cooling, 12,000-37,000 BTU for heating
- R454B refrigerant
- Inverter heat pump system for ducted applications
- Efficient cooling from -22°F to 122°F outdoor temperatures
- Efficient heating from -22°F to 75°F outdoor temperatures
- Durable gold fin condenser coil coating for longevity
- Quiet operation, even under high workloads
Performance Overview
Rated at 3 tons and 17.4 SEER2, the ACIQ-36-HPD delivers reliable comfort across a wide range of climates, with a variable-speed compressor that eliminates the short cycling common to single-stage systems. As an Extreme Series condenser, it uses "Extreme Heat" technology to extend meaningful heat-pump heating all the way down to -22°F outdoor temperature -- well beyond the roughly 30°F cutoff of a traditional heat pump -- delivering 100% output at 0°F and still 80% output at -22°F, which can cut cold-weather heating costs by up to 75% compared to relying on backup electric heat. Use our sizing calculator (found HERE) to determine the right capacity for your home. This condenser cannot operate independently and must be installed with a compatible indoor air handler.
Important Refrigerant Safety Notice
This condenser uses R454B refrigerant, classified as an A2L refrigerant. To comply with safety standards and maintain warranty coverage, the unit must be paired with an R454B-compatible air handler equipped with a refrigerant leak detection system. Failure to follow these requirements may result in safety hazards and could void the manufacturer warranty. For compatibility questions, please call 1-888-557-9206.

Performance Overview
Installation follows the same basic steps as any replacement air handler -- your technician handles the electrical, refrigerant, thermostat, and communication connections along with the return and supply ductwork. This air handler is designed for vertical wall mounting with an up-flow-only configuration, so orientation should be planned accordingly during installation. Any 24V thermostat with 2 stages of heating can control the system, though the supplied thermostat is recommended, and the intelligent control board displays fault codes if maintenance is needed.
Electric strip heat (3, 5, 8, or 10 kW) can be added for backup heating on the coldest days. To function as a heat pump, this air handler must be installed with a compatible condenser and other required installation equipment; to use straight electric heat, an electric heater coil is also required.
